How Much Could You Save with a New Boiler?
If your existing boiler is outdated and inefficient, you may be overspending by up to 35% on heating bills. Upgrading to an A-rated boiler with over 90% energy efficiency could reduce this waste to less than 10% of every pound spent on heating. This improvement could result in annual savings of up to £300 on your energy bills. To explore the benefits of a new boiler, individuals receiving qualifying benefits can provide their details to assess eligibility for a free boiler grant.
How Is the Boiler Grant Offered for Free?
The provision of a significant grant for a free boiler is made possible through the Government’s ECO4 scheme. Major energy companies, including British Gas, EON, SSE, NPower, EDF Energy, and Scottish Power, are obligated to fund initiatives under this scheme, targeting the reduction of fuel poverty and helping households lower their carbon emissions. This funding facilitates the installation of new, energy-efficient heating systems in homes that stand to benefit the most. Eligible individuals can receive a new boiler and central heating system without incurring any costs.
What is the Installation Timeline for Your New Boiler?
The excitement surrounding the installation of your new boiler is understandable, especially if your current one is failing. Typically, the installation process and activation of your new boiler take between 2-3 weeks from the date of your application, with the possibility of even quicker turnaround in some cases. However, if external services such as a new gas connection are required, the process may extend slightly. It’s important to note that the scheme does not cover the cost of a new gas connection, although alternative funding options may be available for this purpose.
Who Qualifies for a Boiler Grant?
Homeowners residing in their property with boilers older than 6 years and receiving one or more qualifying benefits are eligible to apply. Qualifying benefits include Universal Credit, Pension Credit, ESA, JSA, Income Support, Working Tax Credits, Child Tax Credits, AFIP, Attendance Allowance, Carer’s Allowance, DLA, PIP, War Pensions Mobility Supplement, Severe Disablement Allowance, Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit, Constant Attendance Allowance, or Child Benefits. How is cavity insulation installed?

This is not a DIY job, and a professional can typically complete the installation in about two hours for an average house with easily accessible walls, without causing any mess.
How long does cavity insulation take to install?
The installation time for cavity insulation is approximately 2 to 2.5 hours for a semi-detached or a bungalow, and roughly half a day for a standard detached property.
